Located in the Rotunda da Boavista, the Monument to the Heroes of the Peninsular War is a striking tribute to those who fought in the Peninsular War. Designed by architect Marques da Silva and sculptor Alves de Sousa, it was inaugurated in 1952. The monument features a 45-meter column topped with a lion defeating an eagle, symbolizing the victory of the Portuguese and British forces over Napoleon's troops.
