The Basílica de la Virgen de los Desamparados, built between 1652 and 1667, is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture. It houses the revered statue of the Virgin of the Forsaken, the patron saint of Valencia. The basilica is known for its elliptical dome adorned with frescoes by Antonio Palomino, and it plays a central role in the city's religious life, especially during the annual Fallas festival.
