Höfði House (Borgartún)

Höfði House is more than just an architectural landmark; it's a symbol of peace and diplomacy. Built in 1909, this white, timber-framed house became internationally renowned when it hosted the 1986 summit between U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev. This pivotal meeting is often credited with helping to end the Cold War. The house, situated on Borgartún street, is an excellent example of early 20th-century Icelandic architecture. Although it is not open to the public for tours, visitors can enjoy its charming exterior and the surrounding gardens, offering a serene spot for contemplation.
