A poignant Holocaust memorial in central Berlin.
Designed by architect Peter Eisenman and engineer Buro Happold, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe is a powerful tribute to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Opened in 2005, it consists of 2,711 concrete slabs of varying heights, creating a somber and contemplative atmosphere. The memorial is located near the Brandenburg Gate and includes an underground information center with exhibits about the Holocaust.
